Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid

26 May – 21 September 2020 (postponed)
Group exhibition Audiosphere. Sound Experimentation 1980-2020 at Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid (ES), presenting a track inspired by the performance ‘Cycles: Overtones and Glottis Attack’. Curated by Francisco López.

The presented track, ‘Glottis Attack for one singer (live recording)’ [excerpt], 2020, 03’37” is an ambisonic recording and binaural mix by Tom Mays in the electroacoustic studios of the Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin, made during Janneke van der Putten’s research period at ‘Espaces Sonores’, Strasbourg (FR), January 2020.

Employing techniques learned during years of training, Janneke van der Putten uses her voice as an instrument in order to explore different environments physically, sonically and intuitively. Her work moves away from the usual modern parameters of amplification and synthesis, focusing instead on the space’s and body’s resonance in the here and now.

Audience reaction by Anabella at LaSedede, Sevilla (ES), September 2018: “Los sonidos me han trasladado a sitios muy diferentes, me he dejado llevar por las emociones que me provocaba, me ha sorprendido la capacidad vocal y comunicativa de Janneke.”
