Colectivo maDam emerged in 2011 as a space for the exploration of the musical group improvisation. Members of Colectivo maDam have worked in different compositions to be performed by the group members themselves. From listening, space and bodies are confirmed as entities impossible to ignore. A deep musical listening consciousness goes through the scenic dimension of sound, which produces and what surrounds it. From this perspective, Colectivo maDam has developed a series of actions and partnerships for the exploration of the inherent scenic dimension to the music. Colectivo maDam performs actions in different spaces dedicated to the visual arts such as La Tortuga (2015), Librería Traficantes de Sueños (2016) and Habitar la línea (2016-2017). In 2014/2015 maDam was artist in residence at Espacio Naranjo and is also artist in residence at Cruce from 2014 till now. maDam has collaborated with improvisers, among others: Johnny Chang, Miguel A. García, Nilo Gallego, Wade Mathews, Mattin Marcio Mattos, Radu Malfatti, Abdul Moimeme, Seijiro Murayama, and with different composers, amongst others: Llorenc Barber, Antoine Beuger, Alfredo Costa Monteiro, Radu Malfatti, Michael Pisaro, Hector Rey, Taku Sugimoto, Lucio Capece, Taylan Susam.

Janneke van der Putten is a visual artist and vocalist based in Rotterdam. Her practice involves experiences of listening, performances, sound and video, documentations in image/text/textile, workshops, music projects, and creating platforms for cultural exchange. Her voice is her main tool, guiding her through physical and sonic explorations in different landscapes. Engaging with specific sites and local contexts, and through her personal experiences, she investigates (human) responses to her surroundings, and their relation to natural phenomena and transitions, such as the sunrise. She graduated from TXT (Textile), Gerrit Rietveld Academy (Amsterdam) and completed her MMus in Artistic Research, Royal Academy of Art & Royal Conservatoire (The Hague). She trained in North-Indian Dhrupad singing with Amelia Cuni and Marianne Svašek, and is autodidact in various extended vocal techniques. The project ‘Invisible Architecture’ with Christian Galarreta, for which they published a vinyl in 2014, has been presented at amongst others Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (Lima). Forthcoming will be solo show Quitsa, CINNNAMON (Rotterdam). In the past year Van der Putten performed in Spain at Liceo Mutante, Espacio Naranjo, La Casa de Max, Espai Cocteau, La Polivalente, Campo Magnético, Màgia Roja, Sonodrome Fest II, and Experimenta Málaga. In 2016 and 2017 she co-curated the Aloardi Festival ‘Peruvian New Music & Arts’, WORM (Rotterdam).
